AUCKLAND HOSPITAL
ENGINEER AND ARCHITECT RESIGN
RESULT Of ROYAL COMMISSION.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, 23rd Nov. The resignation of the Auckland Hospital Board's consulting engineer (Mr. A. J. Walker) was accepted, and the resignation of tho architect (Mr. G. W. Allsop) was asked for by the board this evening, after a discussion of the report of the Royal Commission which inqnired into the administration of J;he board's affairs. The bo*jd went into committee to discuss the report. It had before it the resignation of Mr. Walker, who said that in view of the report of the Commissioner (Mr. A. Gray, K.C.) the only honourable course open to him was to resign. After about an hour's debate the board passed a resolution accepting Mr. Walker's resignation, and asking the architect to tender his resignation. A clause in the resolution said that if Mr. Allsop declined to accede to the request his engagement as sole architect to the board should be terminated. The decision of the board was conveyed to Mr. Allsop by the chairman' (Mr. W. Wallace) this evening. Mr. Wallace later made a statement that Mr. Allsop had intimated that he would accede to the request contained in the resolution. Mr. Allsop also informed Mr. Wallace that it was his intention to proceed abroad for about two years and that during his tout he would be on the look out for the latest developments in hospital architecture.
