NEW CALEDONIAN NICKEL
SMELTING WORKS TO EE BUILT.

A Belgian engineer hag arrived en route for New Caledonia to superintend the erection of blast furnaces for the treatment of nickel ores. The works, which it is claimed will be one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, will take eighteen months to complete. Coal will .also be imported and treated for benzol and coke.
