SCHOOL ATTENDANCES
EFFECT OF CHILDREN WORKING.
(Bj Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, This Day. Complaints made in reference to 'boys arriving late at school in the mornings led to the Education Board's attendance officer making investigations into the question of the employment of school children. His report was presented at the meeting of the board to-day. The officer stated that, after making investigations and receiving reports from the head teachers in city and suburban schools, he found th 3 number of pupils working before and after school was approximately 355. After a discussion, in which it was stated that the position was largely connected with the economic situation, the board decided to give publicity to the report and forward copies to the Education Department and the Health Department.
