AMERICA AND ROYALTY

HIGH ROAD TO MONARCHY

"EFFETE COURTS OF EUROPE" " OUTDONE.

(United Pita* Association.—Copyright.) (Received 21st October, 11 a.m.) LONDON, 20th October. Sir John Foster Frasor wrijng in tho "Evening Standard" says: "American hysteria over Queen" Marie's visit, as to which English newspapers contain amusing details, is significant. Has it over struck our slow-moving English that wo do not really show tho interest in our Royalty that we should? Par more appears in American newspapers about tho King and Queen of England than in any English papers I over knew. lam a most dutiful subject, but I confess that I am ignorant as to what is the King's favourite colour of pyjamas. ■ All Americans know. It is th i kind of thing th.y like to know. As Europe becomes more democratic, America becomes buoyantly Imperialistic. America is on the high road to radiant monarchy, spacing no expense in order that 'effete Courts of Europe' will not look worth thirty cents."
