Although somewhat daring in theme, "White Cargo" is making a strong appeal at the Grand Opera House. The story relates to life in \Vest Africa, where the strength of the white man, physically and mentally, is severely tested, and not only by the climatic conditions. It is presented in forceful manner by a strong cast, at the head of which is the author himself, Mr. Leon Gordon, who gives a fine portrayal of "the man who stays.".; Mr. Wallis Clarke makes the, most, of the .rolo. of the doctor, and Messrs^.Austin.Coughlin, F. Forrester, B. Lewis,. S. Alexander, and Bert Barton give excellent support. To the only woman in the piece—Miss Helen.Stransky, who appears as a French-negro woman—no small share of the praise for capable production is duo. . .' : . . ' ' . ;
