AUCKLAND'S CITY ORGAN
The decision, of the Auckland City Council to broadcast the municipal concerts and the organ recitals from the Town Hall will be warmly welcomed by listeners all over New Zealand. The council in regard to the organ recitals, declined the advice" of the City Organist, Mr. Maughan Barnett, who objected to the broadcasting of the music because, he declared, experience had shown that it could not be done properly. But experience has also shown, and in New Zealand at that, that organ music can be transmitted with very pleasing effect. It is true that it loses some of the richness of the original owing to the loss of the deepest notes, but such organ music as has been hoard from the new stations at Christchurch and Auckland, as well as from Sydney and Melbourne, is encouraging, and the Auckland recitals will certainly bo listened for with interest, and we may hope, great pleasure. On this subject, the following letter, signed "F.A..C," appeared in the "New Zealand Herald" (Auckland) a few days ago: "It is a little ungenerous of Mr. Maughrn Barnett to grudge the broadcast of municipal recitals.
