The Greymouth Meeting will be opened on Saturday and concluded on Monday. The Oamaru Meeting will be held on Monday. According to Southern reports Nelson Derby is thriving on the light preparation he is receiving for the New Zealand Trotting Cup. A brother to that brilliant pacer Willie Logan is pleasing the Christchurch trackwatchers. , Master Audo, a speedy trotter, who in the past has been troubled by the last furlong of a two mile journey, is trotting in good style in his work. He may stay just a little better with age. . " Escapade, one of the best free-legged horses in commission, is going great guns in her work. Don Wild continues to be a regular attendant at Addington. Some days he is ridden and o» others he is in the sulky. He rarely goes much faster than very slow jogging, and is very much on the big side. It looks in the meantime as though his racing days are over, although Fleming may give him a run over a short course. Canterbury horses won four of the eight races on the first day of the Auckland Meeting. M. B. Edwards scored in two with Harold Thorpe and Arran Chief. J. Bryce won with Money Spider, and R. B. Berry was successful in the principal event with Sea Pearl. Sea Pearl is now Auckland-owned, but she was bred and is trained in the South, where she has done practically all her racing.
