NEW SOUTH WALES DEW
(From Our Own Cermioiitf«Nit)
SYDNEY, 14th Oetobsr. New South Wales, financially, appear! to be making the pace too hot to last, The funded debt of the State, of £209,793,012, which has just been revealed by the Auditor-General, shows an increase of almost 110 per cent, on the funded debt in 1912. In the same period, the interest bill has increased from nearly £3,500,000 to a staggering sum which represents an increase of slightly under 200 per cent. This rer lates only to the funded debt. In addition, there is the floating debt, which brings the total public debt up to £224,709,420, with a total interest bill of more than £11,000,000. The Treasurer, upon whom is forced the task of working with greatly reduced loan funds, a task which may not be an immeasurable distance off, will not be altogether popular.
