BRITISH BETTING TAX
TO BE PASSED ON TO CLIENTS.

How the betting; tax is to be passed on was decided by the Turf Guardian Society, which resolved to charge clients 3} per cent, upon gross winnings and 3J per cent, on the stakes invested to produce those winnings. The proposer said the bookmakers were anxious to retain their clients' goodwill, therefore they were paying part of the tax themselves.
