PROTECTION AGAINST MONOPOLIES.

Mr. P. Fraser (Wellington Central) presented a largely-signed petition to the "House of Representatives yesterday, asking that the Board of Trade Act should be amended to give greater protection against monopolies acting in restraint of trade. Mr. Fraser said it must be admitted that the petition had come in very late in the session. He hardly expected that it could be dealt with this year. On Mr. Fraser 's motion the petition was referred direct to the M to Z Committee.
