LODGE MEETINGS
O-Kiwi-lti Hebekah Lodge, No. U, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Eastbourne, held its fortnightly meeting last week, Sister G. C. Jones, N.G., presiding. There was a large attendance, the visitors including the Lady D.D.G.M. (Sister E. Maley, P.N.G.), Sisters W. Maley, P.N.G., K. H. Finch, P.N.G and F Barrowman, P.N.G., of Victoria Eebekah Lodge, official visits being received from Sister D. Schon, P.G., and oflicers of Rose of Wellington Rebekah Lodge, SHter V. Newson, N.G., and officers of Esther Kebekah Lodge, »nd Sister M. Sergent, K.G., and officers of Eahirl Eebekah Lodge. , One lady candidate was elected, and another nominated. Several invitations to social functions were accepted, and Star of Petone Rebekah Lodge notified membership competition supper will bs tendered at next meeting. Arrangebents were made for provision of chemist service, cupboard and pedestal, and a challenge was issued to Victoria Rebekah Lodge for the Eebekah "500" shield. The District Secretary gave a resume of recent progress of the Order in the district and .jurisdiction, incidentally pointing out that with the recent creation of a Eebekah Lodge (No. 51) at Helensville, and a male lodge at Greymouth (No. 139), the number of branches now totals 181, showing a gain of 26 male lodges since the institution of Muritai Lodge, No 113 at Eastbourne in 1823, and of 21 Eebekah Lodges since contemporary institution of Esther Eebekah Lodge, Brooklyn, of which 47 new lodges in Wellington district could claim credit for elevep. Music, dancing, and supper concluded a pleasant evening. The fortnightly meeting of Bellevue Lodge, No. 126, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Lower Hutt, was held last week, Bro. C. Orr, N.G., presiding over a good attendance. An official visit was received from the District Deputy Grandmaster ■''.to. 11. Dalnes, P.G.), accompanied by Bros. W. J. Grondin, P.G., J. W. Pearson, P.G., and G. H. Buge, N.G. Two members were reported sick, two candidates were elected and initiated, and general business disposed of. The D.D.G.M. congratulated the lodge xm its steady progress, and detailed the general progress and fraternity of the Order. AVaipoua Lodge, No. 09, X.0.0.F., N.Z., Masterton, held its fortnightly meeting last week, Bro. A. Macalister, S.G., presiding. There was a good attendance. One candidate wa6 nominated, and degrees were conferred on members eligible. The fortnightly meeting of Star of Petone Rebekah Lodge, No. 45, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., was held last week. Sister A. Parry, N.G., presiding. There was a good attendance. After disposal of requisite business, a social evening was held. Rose of Wellington Rebekah Lodge, No. 3S, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Courtenay place, held its fortnightly meeting last week, Sister E Jones, P.N.G., presiding. There was a very good attendance, visitors including Sister V. Nowson. N.G., and officers of Esther Rebekah Lodge, on an official visit. Two lady candidates were nominated, and three members were admitted on transfer. Three members of other lodges were also nominated as asso4'ate members. Two sisters were reported sick. On concluding business Esther Rebekah I.odge was entertained at supper in pursuance of membership competition. The fortnightly meeting of Cleveland Lodge, No. 13, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Brooklyn, was held last Wednesday evening, Bro. E. Mason, N.G., presiding. ' There was a good attendance, Bro. A. C. Escott, Southern Cross Lodge, also being present. Four members were reported sick, one candidate was initiated, and another was nominated. It was decided to obtain new officers' regalia, and after disposing of correspondence, etc., the meeting terminated with the fourth degree. Rahiri Rebekah Lodge, No. 49, 1.0.0.F , N.Z., Miramar, held its fortnightly meeting" last Wednesday evening, Sister M. Sergent, N.G., presiding. There was a large attendance, visitors including Sister M. Shepherd, N.G., and officers of Victoria Rebekah Lodge, and Bro N. Gray, N.G., and officers of Maraenui Lodge', on official visits. Invitations were received to social functions from Victoria Rebekah, Rose of Wellington Eebekah, and Wildey Lodges. Later a very enjoyable social evening was held, during which pianoforte solos were rendered by Mies W. Tahiwi, and songs tv Sisters Phillips and Cossgrove, and Bro. K. Tahiwi. The regular semi-monthly meeting of Muritai Lodge, No. 113, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Eastbourne, was held last Wednesday evening, Bro. A. H. Hancox, N.G., presiding: There was a good attendance, and one candidate was initiated. A challenge for the district "500" shield was received from Maraenui Lodge. After completing business a euchre tournament was held. Onslow Lodge, No. 128, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Khandallab, held its fortnightly meeting last Thursday evening, Bro. W. H. Ede, KG,, presiding. There waa a good attendance. The lodge !|ter adjourned to pay . a visit to Zealandia Lodge, Newtown. The fortnightly meeting of Zealandia Lodge, No. 48, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Newtown, was held last Thursday evening, Bro. A. J. Azzato,N.G., presiding. There was a large attendance, visitors including Bro A. ,T. Craighead, N.G., and officers of Wildey Lodge, and Bro. W. H. Ede, N.G., and officers of Onslow Lodge, on official visits. One candidate was nominated, one member; was admitted on transfer, and the transfer out of another was approved. An enjoyable supper was tendered to Wildey Lodge on a. membership competition. After the loyal toast, that of "Wildey Lodge" was proposed by Bro. T. Glengarry, P.G., and responded to by Bro. A. J. Craighead. Bro. H. A. Hardham, P. 0., P.O. Rep., proposed the toast of "Onslow Lodge," responded to by Bro. W. H. Ede, N.G. Bro. J H. West P. 0., proposed the toast of "The Grand Master and Grand Lodge," which was responded to by the District Deputy Grand Master (Bro. H. Dainee, P;G.), Bros. G. F. Eudkin, P.G., G.H., and F. J. Jones, P.G., Grand Lodge representatives, who traversed the progress of the Order in the Dominion and district, and paid tribute to the Grand Lodge Executive Heretaunia Lodge, No. 15, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Petone, held its fortnightly meeting last Thursday evening, Bro. G. H. Bugg, N.G, presiling. There was a good attendance, Bro. J. A. Halley, Maraenui Lodge, also being present. A member wa» admitted on transfer, and seven candidates were nominated. An invitation to a euchre tarty was recelyed from the local G.TJ.0.0.F. Lodge.
