COLLINS WITH THE BALL

CAPTURES SIX WIGKETS

BAIN COMPELS A DRAWN GAME.

(United Prew Association.—Copyright.) (Eeceived 7th September, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, 6th September. The weather was overcast, and there was an intermittent drizzle when the match between the Civil Service elevon and the Australians was resumed at Chiswick. Owing to the rain play started late, and the wicket was wet. ,When the Australians had lost eight wickets for 454, and rain again interfered, it was decided to declare. Further rain delayed the start of the Civil Service innings, which did not commence until 2.30 p.m., when there was an attendance of about a thosuand. A feature of the innings was the bowling of Collins, who captured six wickets for 17 runs. Bennett was the only batsman to make anything of a stand, and he brought off some nice drives. The batsmen generally were impotent, and did not attempt to hit out. JTheir efforts to Btop the ball were painful to watch, but their second strike ■was a bit more lively. Cook and Musson drove and cut cleanly and powers fully, and the second wicket of the second innings yielded 56 runs. Webb and Collins played out time, the game ending in a draw.
