TIMBER IMPORTS AND EXPORTS.
During July that much-discussed trio of American timbers, cedar, hemloch, and Douglas flr, attracted over $30,0.00 of New Zealand money. In the rough sawn division, New Zealand imported 2,360,675 feet of Douglas fir, valued for Customs purposes at £15,159; 1,117,709 feet of cedar, £13,543; 31,080 feet of hemlochl value £198. The sa,mc Umbers, as sawn dressed, camo in to the extent of 274 501 feet of Douglas flr, £4250; 54,362 feet cedar, £718; 71,841! feet hemloch, £763. Irohbark and jarrah in various forms, to the value of over £11,000,. came in from Australia; in addition to which "poles (round undressed)" were valued at £7967. Tho timber exports in July were worth £43,723, and included 2,852,929 feet of white pine worth £31,310; 483,317 feet of rimu, £4492; 233,466 feet of beech, £«172; 204,733 feet of kauri, £4449. The figures are Customs figures, supplied by the "Forest Service.
