DRIVER EXONERATED
EECENT MOTOB-CAR ACCIDENT.
An inquest was held before Mr. E. Page, S.M., yesterday afternoon into the death of John Marijan Milieich, who succumbed to injuries received as the result of being knocked down by a motor-car in Cambridge terrace at about 11.30 p.m. on Friday last. John Lorimer Craig Allan, the driver of the motor-car, said that he was going up Cambridge terrace on the correct side of the road at a speed of twelve miles per hour. The deceased ran off the footpath in front of his car, and then hesitated. The horn was sounded, but Milieich suddenly turned, and then fell almost face downwards in front of his car. The brakes were applied immediately. Medical aid was summoned, but Milieich died a few minutes afterwards.
In returning a verdict of accidental death, Mr. Page exonerated the driver of the motor-car from any possible suggestion of negligent driving. Mr. A. J. Mazengarb appeared for the relatives of the deceased, and Mr. C. A. L. Treadwell for the driver of the car.
