PRICE CUTTING
* OPPOSITION BY GROfcIML
(By Telajrapb.)
(Special to "The Evening Pott.") AUCKLAND, Thla Day. An invitation from the Master Grocers' Association for the attendance of a representative at m special meeting to discuss the "growing prevalence of price-cutting" was considered by the Auckland Provincial Industrial Association yesterday. The secretary of the Industrial Association said that more information would be necessary. One idea suggested was the fixation of prices, but such a suggestion had to be considered carefully.. Its operation, would be opposed by Labour, and might involve a breach of th« Commercial Trusts Act. . .. A member remarked that it seemed agood subject for debate, especially in relation to the objections of Labour. "We have a lot of laws fixing the priee of labour," he added. "You could argue on their own lines." Another member said that the natter did not come within the association's realm. The grocers would have to meet the difficulty in their own way. The matter was deferred pending farther inquiries.
