Barometer—Fall, but rising after about :o hours. Seas—Heavy northward of Farewell Spit and southward of Castlepoint; rough elsewhere. Xides—Good generally Warning signals for westerly gales are ex--ibited at Cape Maria Van Diemen, Tiritiri, Castlepoint, Cape Campbell, Stephen Island, and Farewell Spit; and for south-easterly at Nugget Point. Weather—Unsettled and cloudy, with rain probable generally; hea^y over the North Is._nd and the north-eastern districts of the South Island; snow on the higher levels. D. C. BATES.
