Rain interfered with the three county matches set down as the finals of the championship. Somerset, in the first innipgs against Yorkshire at Taunton, declared when eight wickets had fallen for 329 runs (M Lyon 107, Macßryan 131,), Robson taking six wickets for 87 runs. Yorkshire, in the first innings, scored 264 for the loss of six wickets (Holmes 55, Mitchell not out 51). In addition to the Somerset-Yorkshire match, Middlesex wag to meet Worcestershire at Lord's, and Sussex to play Northants at Northampton. Lancashire has apparently won the- county championship, and the counties named are now. playing for places.
