. The, Depaitment of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated the 4th instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — Butter.—Market weak and Irregular. Official quotations are:— New Zealand.—Finest .alted, 4th September, 160s to 164s per cwt (Is 5d to ls s_sd per lb), exceptional, 168s per cwt (ls 6d per lb); 2Sth August, 168s to 174s per cwt (ls 6d to ls BV_d per lb). Unsalted, 4th September, ICOs to 108s per cwt (ls 5d to ls 6d per lb); 28th August, 170s to 174s per cwt (ls ahid to ls 6V_d per lb). Other qualities, 4th September, 136s to 158s per cwt (Is ,2 _jd to ls 4%d per lb). Australian.—Salted, 4th September, 160s to 162s per cwt (ls 5d to ls s_,d per lb), exceptional, 164s per cwt (ls 5 _.d per lb); 28th August, 106s to 1703 per cwl (ls 5%d to ls 6%d per lb). Estimated stocks of cheeße off hand at Ist September, London, Liverpool, and Bristol, Canadian, and American,. 186,700 boxes; New Zealand and Australian, 71,650 crates, against 260,800 and 29,500 same time last year. Shipment of New Zealand produce arrived this week per s.s. Port Melbourne. OTKSR PRODUCTS. Eggs.—Market quiet and prices lower. Present quotations arc : —English and Danish, Ills to 18s per long 100; Irish, Dutch, French, and Belgian, lis 9d to 16s 6d per long 100; Lithuanian, Polish, Russian, Chinese, 9s 6d to 13s 6d per long 100. Tallow.—Spot market quiet and prices unchanged. Nothing doing for shipment. Hemp.—Manila, market , firm. SeptemberNovember shipments sold up to £46 10s. Closed easier. Sisal market quiet but steady, with fairly large stocks of No. 1 on spot. Small business reported at £42 10s to £43, and forward shipments quoted sellers £43. New Zealand market quiet ' but steady, with sellers Highpolnts any position £37 10s, fair £34 10s, possible buyers 20s less. Tow. —Small business has been done in spot and near at hand. No. 1, £21 10s to £22; No. 2, £23 30s to £24. Wool. —Bradford market remains Arm for top 3. Prices have advanced, top grades. Id; 40's, ..d. CEREALS. Peas.—Blues dull and buyers awaiting further information regarding Dutch and English now crops. Maple: Owing to scarcity of holders spot and close at hand parcels very firm. Tasmnnlan "A" afloat resold 103s to 104s; Enslish old crops offered 70s to 745; new crops reported to 1)0 of good quality. Partridge: New Zealand spot offered 96s to 103s. Beans.—.Market quiet. English winter make up to 50s: choice old spring up to 755. New crops reported in a fair condition, out-turn reported heavy, lino white light. Oats.—Market quiet. No. 2 Canadian Western afloat offered 25s 9d; English new crops sold 27s to 28s 6d. Old crops practically finished. Nominal value "A". New Zealand September shipments 275. Cocksfoot.—Danish market firm. Prices have recovered and 71s now asked.
