Mr. J. Castle (of the Wellington Zoological Society) reports that the first prize for the oil painting competition, arranged by the society for technical students, has been awarded to Miss Aile.n Palmer for her study of pelicans. This prize is of the value of £7, and the second prize of £3 was won by Miss B. E. Chappie for two pictures, one of the macaw and the other of what are commonly known as lovo birds. Messrs. Kingsway, Ltd., 78-80, Lambton quay, will sell by auction at their rooms, to-morrow, at 2 p.m., furniture, poultry, etc, as advertised.
