INCREASE IN WAGES,
(By, Telegraph.)
(Speelal to "The Evening Post.")
AUCKLAND, 3rd September.
Considerable anxiety has been experienced by those interested in tho fish trawling owing to tho uncertainty of how the industry would be affected by the recent claims made by tho seamen and others. At one period there was a prospect of a compelte deaklock, a possibility of the whole of tho fish supply of Auckland and parts of tho North Island being held up. Conciliation proceedings have now brought about a settlement on the basis of an all-round addition to the wages of 5s per week. Overtime has also been increased from 2s 6d to,2s 9d per hour up to 3s Cd For some classes of work men will enjoy a lengthened time ashore, namely, 108 hours instead of 96, over a period of four weeks. The new conditions are to operate from 9th Sep-' tembor for two years.
