LIQUOR AT BASIN RESERVE

That he allowed liquor to be consumed in the restaurant at the Basin ReBorve Pavilion after 6 p.m., was admitted by the proprietor, George Bird, in the Magistrate's Court this morning, before Mr. W. G. Riddoll, SM. Sub-Inspector Harvey said a smoko concert was being h.ld in tho pavilion, and the police found liquor being consumed there. Thoro -was no suggestion that Mr. Bird had' supplied the liquor; it had been brought there by the people who had leased the hall for the evening. Mr. Bird waß a very'rcspectablo man, and had no doubt acted in ignorance. - Mr. Riddoll said he thought a nominal penalty would meet the case, and the defendant was fined £1 and costs 7s.
