FOOTBALL APPEAL
4 ■ DIAMONDS PLATER CENSURED. The appeal of the Diamonds Club from the decision of the Wellington Football Association, deducting points from the club for allegedly playing an unregistered player, was. again dealt with by tho council of the New Zealand Pootball Association last evening. Mr. A. Varney, .the chairman, said he considered that as far as Wellington was concerned, Guest, the player in question, was still a member of the Diamonds Club, and could play for another club by getting a transfer only. It was contended by Mr. Hyder, that if North Shore signed on the man, the onus rested on the player, and on the North Shore Club. Mr. J. Roberts said that the council could put its finger only on Guest, as North Shore had complied with the Auckland rule. Possibly they knew nothing about the continuous registration rule of the Wellington Football Association. The question of redrafting the rule was discussed with Mr. W. Duncan, chairman of the Wellington Pootball Association, who agreed that this was desirable. Mr. Duncan said the rules were being revised. After further discussion it was resolved: "That in playing, for North Shore (Auckland) and Diamonds (Wellington) in the "same season, Guest broke rule 17 (b) of the New Zealand Council. In the council's opinion Guest broke the rule in ignorance, and is hereby, censured. It is the unanimous opinion of the council that North Shore and Diamonds Clubs acted in good faith, and cannot be held responsible for Guest's action. It is also the opinion of the council that all associations should insert rule 17 (b) of the New Zealand Council as a footnote to their transfer rule."
