When a woman, Annie Turpin (49) wts arrested on a charge of drunkenness last evening fifteen yards of dress materitl were found in her possession. She waj unable to remember where she got the material from, and was charged . this^ morning with theft. The MSgisira*., however, refused to convict her, remarking that he could not do so in such circumstances. The woman was fined £3 for drunkenness.
