EMPIRE PARLIAMENTARY CONFERENCE ♦ The British, Irish, and Canadian members of tho delegation which is to attend the Empire Parliamentary Association Conference in Australia this month will arrive at Auckland by the Aorangi on Sunday, 12th September, and arrangements have been made for the twenty-seven visitors to pay a flying visit to the thermal district; A special train will take the delegates to Rotorua after their arrival, and the return trip will be commenced on the Monday evening. Auckland will .be reached, at 11 p.m., and the Aorangi will make her departure for Sydney at midnight. The members of the New Zealand delegation (the Hon. J. Barr and Messrs. J. S. Dickson, W. A. Veiteh, and M. J. Savage), who will be leaving by the same vessel, havo chosen Mr. Dickson as their leader. Mr. Galo, who is to look after tho party in Australia, will arrive in Auckland on Tuesday next, and bo met there by Mr. Dickson. SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY * Mr. H. Jackson organised a concert last evening at the Sailors' Friend Society. The performers were Mrs. Swain and Messrs. W. Larcher, E. W. Swain, 11. Jackson, Sargent, and A. Hancock. The competitions' prizes came from Mrs. P. E. Low and the host. The missiouer, Mr. J. Moore, announced that the renovation of the institute was going forward.
