DROUGHT IN HAWKES BAY

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIEE, Ist September. An indication of the drought which is being experienced in Hawkes Bay is contained in the fact that during the twelve months preceding 31st August the rainfall registered in Napier totalled 15.66 inches, whereas the average over a number of years is over 35 inches. Back from the coast there has been more rain than in Napier, but everywhere the fall registered ]i=h been leas than the average.
