: .- .XOWER HUTT SITTING. The fortnightly sitting, of the Lower HutJ Magistrate's Court was held yesterday before Mr. E. Page, S.M.:— Mrg. L. Handley was fined £3 and 7s costs for failing to close her shop on the ■weekly half-holiday. Defendant is a confectioner, but sells cigarettes, and offered these for sale to an inspector. John Barnes was granted a cancellation of a;maintenance order for his children and a ,*enuttance of the. arrears amounting t0,«72.,,,. :- . • Judgment for plaintiffs by default, with costs," .was given in the following undefended civil cases:—. Jackson and Fuge v. W. H, Loveridge, £75; Campbell, Jackson, and Fugo v. W. n. ./loVcEidge, £11 18s 4d; Lower Hutt Boifyjgk -Council v. G. F. Norton, £3 3s Si{ A. Pike v. H. Humphreys. £23 16s; Clendoii Bros. v. J. Clegg, £14 5s 3d. ■" Ih"a' judgment summons case W. Taylor ■was ordered to pay R. M'Gregor the sum of £30: lls sd. at the rate of £1 per week or-suffer, thirty days' imprisonment. Before Mr. G. Fownes, J.P., at the Mount Cook Police Court this morning, one first offonder for drunkenness was fined 10s, the amount of his bail. At ...the Petono Police Court yesterday, before Messrs. J. Piper and T. Potts, J.P.s, William o'Sullivan was fined 10s for drunkenness, and £5 for resisting, the police, and Patrick Sharkey. was fined £3 for obstructing the police, during the arrest of O 'Sullivan.
