Another version of the alleged massacre of aborigines states that a constable and another white man, accompanied by a number of black trackers, were searching for a native wanted on a charge of the murder of a white man named Hay. The trackers, preceding tho white men, came upon a" "native camp. The natives showed fight and attacked the trackers with spears and other weapons. The trackers replied with revolvers and shot dead seven o^ the natives before they secured the alleged murderer and rejoined their white companions. One tracker was wounded.A message from Darwin, published yesterday, stated 'that Mr. Mitchell, Chief Protector of the ■ Aborigines of West Australia, had arrived' ,at Darwin in possession of. a coll.ec.ti!sn"-Of' teeth and bones, alleged to be, the;remains of blacks who were shot cfown, and the bodies burned, by a party of white men. . Tho-allegation.;waß-that-a--search was being conducted in the Wyndham district for a-native who, was suspected of murder. Two police constables swore-in four white men as special constables to assist .in th'o •' capture. Seemingly, the party came; upon a' group of natives and killed, a. large number. Whether the natives resisted or were aggressive was not then known. The rcmajns of twelve native's were found, but twenty-seyen~were'-missiiig, and it was presumed that that number were killed. Tho two constables concerned were suspended. -"'
