■ The Otahuhu Trotting Club is adver- ; tisiug for a handicapper. Particulars may be obtained from the secretary, Mr. R. L. " Absolum, Box 371, Auckland. ■' _ The handicaps for the New Zealand Trot- ; ting Club are now available, and will pro- . vide. plenty of discussion. Great Bingen jvas a certainty for the post of honour, •: and on a 4min 21sec mark he is asked '. to do something of the very best to -win. Sheik is only 12yds in front of him, and ,Onyx another 12yds away. Great Hope. as next, on 48yds, the four back-markers thus each having a mark to himself or ; herself. Then follow a group of three on . 36yds, Imprint, Acron, and Man-o'-War. ; These look likely, especially. Imprint and Acron. Jack, Potts, on . 24yds, is pre: ferred to Ahuriri. Nelson Derby and Prince Pointer, who figure on the 12yds mark, are sure to be amongst the fay- •": ourites, and appeal more, than any ■of the ,■ limit division. ' : Homeleigh Girl, a four-year-old by * Homeleigh Dick, is amongst tlie regular attendants at Addington, and is striding along freely in her work. Folloirin(? on his success at the National fixture, Mr. A. J. Hastings lias been appointed ■ starter to the Ashburton Trottin? Club. ; ..The Nelson-owned pacer Imprint is re- ; ported to ".be training on satisfactorily, and thero is much discussion concerning „-. ,iis.prospects in the New Zealand Trotting '""'Ciip, for which he is one of the early favourites. He has some high-class performances to his credit, chiefly in Auck- | land. So for he has not raced in Caaterr i

bury, and much interest attaches to his appearance .at Addington, where he will meet stronger opposition than he has yet encountered; At the same time, it has to be admitted that his form leaves no doubt that he is a brilliant pacer.

Waitaki Girl registered some brilliant performances last season, and in the autumn she was the champion of the Christchurch tracks. At her best, she is capable of holding her own in any company and over. any distance, but she is now on a mark, from which winning is difficult, while there is always a slight uncertainty about her behaviour at the barrier, which is a serious handicap in Cup company.

Onyx was not at her best when racing at Addington this month, but J. Messervy should effect a lot of improvement in her during the next few weeks. It is probable, however, that this brilliant and popular performer has seen her best day, and her early retirement from ,the „race-track.may be expected. '

Rich'ore, who as a two-year-old was as quiet as an old stager, has now become a little high-strung, but careful handling by W. J. Tomkinson should keep him right. ■ P. Riddle is working a useful team at Addington, including Sheik, Delavan's .Quest, Deanwood, Parkwood, Dixie Fox, Young, Blake, Peter M'Kinney, and Bertha Bingen. "They, are all ingood condition, and. he is likely to assist at the Auckland T.C.s Spring Meeting. Reverie, the four-year-old trotter by Peter Moko,'• from Dreamland, _ dam of Napland, 'is training on the right way. At-Addington recently, .in company with ■Ricliore, he covered a mile and a half in good style, and never looked like .making a mistake.

Nelson Dorby is going on well in his preparation for the New Zealand' Trotting Cup.' W. ,J. Tomkinson is devoting a lot of time to the brilliant pacer, who should be aphis' best in November, provided he remains sound.: It is pleasing, in the meantime, to find that he appears to have gof-rid of the trouble that affected him recently. Michael Tierney, who rides regularly at Richmond (New South Wains) Trotting Meetings, celebrated his seventy-second birthday on 18th June. On the preceding "'day"he rode, Blaxlarid and Quinto at the Londonderry course. He is remarkably active and strong for his age, and- carries his years well. He has been a horseman for over fifty years,- and has a son who also competes at' Richmond meetings. The pacer La Fayette haa been sold and- will shortly be , shipped to Perth, W.Ai The son of Brent Locanda is very fast over short courses, but has always been found wanting in stamina. Meb, !a three-year-old filly by The King's General from Pastime, and a Brent Locanda gelding in J. H. M'Kendry's stable, were responsible for a pleasing work-out at Addington last Saturday. Both horses are likely to assist at Greymouth next month.

Owing to an injured shoulder, Bessie Logan is being restricted to slow exercise. She is under treatment, and hopes are being entertained that she will make a quick recovery and prove fit to fulfil her spring engagements. ; :
