EEPOETS OF PEINCIPALS.

Mr. W. H. P. Barber presided at tho meeting of the board of governors of Wellington College on Monday. There were also present:—Messrs. E. W. Kane, F.- Holdsworth, C. J. B. Norwood, W. H. Field, M.P., R. Darroch, and G. Mitchell. In his report, Mr. T. E. Creswell stated that the roll at the Boys' College for August was 868, and the average attendance 93.7 per cent. . Absence to assistants on account of sickness had been granted, and tb,ere had been a good deal of sickness among the pupils. The secondary school' inspectors had visited the • college from . 12th to 18th August to grade teachers and to look into recommendations for senior, froe places and higher-leaving certificates,. In regard to the Girls' College, Miss V. M. Greig stated that the roll number'was 527, and the average attendance 93.4 per cent. During the month 32 life-saving medals, 25 certificates, and four honorary instructors' certificates had been presented to the pupils. In connection with the Wellington East, Girls' College, Miss A. M. Batham reported the average roll as 303, and the attendance 91.4 per cent. The parents' association was carrying out the planting of certain portions of the ground, and the asphalting of the playground had almost been completed.
