SHOT IN THEIR SLEEP
PATE OF AUSTRALIAN" FAMILY.
(United Press Association.—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, 30th August.
In a shooting tragedy at East Waverley, where Edward Alcock, his wife, and three children were all discovered dead in a market gardener's hut, apparently Alcock shot his family while they were asleep. The tragedy appeared to have been premeditated, as all the doors and windows in the house were locked. A shotgun was used. The discovery was made by Alcock's two brothers, who, remarking on his absence from their house, went to his residence. After forcing an entrance they found the bodies. . It is apparent that the family were asleep when shot, as the childsen were all smiling. All the family were in night attire, with the exception of the father. Alcock was very fond of his children and hi« wife, and was always on the most amicable terms with them.
