The visit of H.R.H. the Duke of York to Wellington next year makes very interesting the carpet now on view in Messrs. Seoullar Company's Lambton quay window. When H.R.H. visited Kidderminster on 21st July, the Mayoi of Kidderminster requested five of the leading carpet manufacturers to submit their designs each to H.8.H., who selected a design and carpet woven by Messrs. Toinkinson and Adams. Seoullar and Co. have the exact carpet both in design, colouring, and weave, the only difference being' the size. The design is on the lines of the hunting carpets of Persia, of which a number of specimens can still bo seen in large museums and pr'iva*e "ollections. The carpet is woven on a Jacquard loom, which knots the tufts into the- fabric exactly as is done on the Persian handmade carpets and rugs. Tho Duke of York's carpet will measure 27ft x 16ft Oin, and contains over two and a half million knots. —Advt.
