A FAMOUS MUSICIAN

(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. . Mr. Percy Aldridge Grainger, the famous pianist, composer^ and preserver of folk music, arrived by the Aorangi yesterday. His long hair marked him out from the rest of the people who were oil deck, and he proved to be "th 6 living image" of the photographs that are seen from time to time in musical publications • and newspapers from abroad. Mr. Grainger is on his way to fulfil engagements in Australia, and will play in New Zealand at the conclusion of his tour, lie recently completed over a hundred concerts in America, finishing in Los Angeles on 13th .April. During his present trip the composer has been at work on tho manuscript of his "Marching Song of Democracy," the vocal score of which was published in 1917. He will post the complete orchestral score from Australia to Vienna, where it will be published. _ Mr. Grainger stated that if there was time and willingness in Australia, he would arrange to co-operate with choral societies in concerts.
