ISLAND BAY LABOUR PARTY

At the last monthly meeting of the Island Bay branch of the Labour Party replies to the branch's requests for improved street lighting and asphalting of pavements ware received from the Acting-Town Clerk, who stated that improved street lighting was being made' the subject of a report by the general manager of the lighting , department; the asphalting would be attended to next paving season. The secretary was instructed to thank the Acting-Town Clerk for his replies, and to emphasise the urgent need for asphalting the footpaths on the Parade.

A resolution was passed, after a. discussion on the transport problem, urging the earliest possible completion of the bitumenisiug of the Island Bay parade and the speedy inauguration of a City Council motor-bus service.
