Tho French and Spanish troops in twelve days have advanced fifteen to forty kilometres on a front of fifty kilometres, largely by persistent outflanking movements; the Riffs never earing to fight. The retreat indicated by Abd-el-Krini's retirement was arranged, in the hope of inducing the French and Spanish forces to extend their already attentuated lines of communication into barren country, which every mile' becomes wilder and hotter.
