A fire to-night burned the steamer Midland to the water's edge. Damage to the wharf and to smaller craft represents 500,000 dollars . '
The.Midland was a steel screw steamer of 1535 tons. She was built at Newport News in 1895, and belongs to the Norfolk and Washington Steamboat Co The Midland was 260 feet long, 46 feet in breadth, and with a depth of 14.1 feet.
