AN OMISSION

TO THE EDITOn. Sir,—ln connection with the strictures passed by the "Manchester ,Guardian" on Mr. Massey's preference propaganda, it is somewhat remarkable that although a lull summary of ,Mr. Massey's reply was cabled from Vancouver, not one word of the original article has been cabled from England. The "Manchester; Guardian" is one of the most influential English papers, but it is rarely mentioned ,in the cable news, although we are daily furnished with the; views of the "Morning Post"—Lady Bathurst's paper—the "Daily Mail," "The Times," and the "Daily Chronicle." The bias of the cable service in favour of the Tory Party has been patent to intelligent readers for many years past; but it has become particularly noticeable since Mr. Chamberlain launched his tariff-monger-ing propaganda over twenty years ago. Among distinguished visitors to this country who have remarked this fact are Mr. J .Ramsay Macdoliald, M.P., Sir Albert Spicer, M.P"., the late Mr. J. Keir Hardic, M.P., and Mr. J. H. Humphreys, secretary of the Proportional Representation Society.—l am, etc., P. J. O'REGAN. 251h January.
