At the wool sale there was a Hood selection of Australian merinos and greasy crossbreds.. There was strong competition. Merinos were par to 5 pelcent, above opening rates. Crossbreds were unchanged. Dalgety and Company Ltd report having received the following cablegram from their London house under date of the 24th January: "The following is the range of prices realised at the first wool sale of the present series :-JHalfbred, 56-58, good to super 28Jd to 31d,- low to medium, 25d to 27£dj 50-56; good to super 26d to 29J,-d, low to medium 22d to 25d Fine halfbred, 48-50, good to super, 24d to 27£ d, low to medium 19d to 23d i 46-48, good to super 21£ dto 24d, low to medium 16|d to 20. Crossbred, 44-46 geod to super 19d to 20J, low to medium 16d to 18d; 40-44, good to supHsr, 17d to 18d, low to medium 15d to 16d Coarse crossbred, 36-40, good to super 13d, low to medium 14d to 15d."
