. LONDON, 25th January. Mr. Walter Leaf, presiding at the annual meeting of the London County and Westminster Bank, said that the political situation was piquant and interesting, but from a businesa man's viewpoint not wholly unsatisfactory. The election had delivered them probably for years from the fear of rash economic experiments, whether in the form of inflation, protection, or a capital levy. There was no panic but some nervousness among amateur investors, who should jemember that it was easy to loiio in" American investments quite " as much as through any capital levy. The country was recovering with all the stjadiness that could reasonably: be hoped for, and only needed patience, peace and work. ■
