LODGE MEETINGS

ThY monthly meeting of the Port Nicholson Encampment, No. 6, 1.0.0. F., ■was held on Monday evening, Br. C. T. Sullivan, C.P., presiding. Five members, eligible, were advanced to the' Royal Purple Degree. Several members of subordinate lodges were also nominated for admission to the Encampment, and arrangements made for then; initiation into the Patriarchal degree at next meeting.

Cleveland Lodge No. 13, 1.0J0.F., N.Z., held its fortnightly meeting at Brooklyn on Wednesday evening, Bro. J. T. M^Ginnity, N.G., presiding. An official visit was received from officers and members of Wildey Lodge, No. 107. One candidate was elected and initiated, and another nominated. Statutory committees were set up for" the term, and a team selected to play Zealandia Lodge for the district "500" shield at its next meeting. An appeal from an up-country lodge, on behalf of a married member, who had been laid up many months, was received from Grand Lodge executive, which had approved same, and made a siutable grant from the central benevolent fund. Cleveland Lodge also > decided to contribute.

The fortnightly meeting of Zcalandia Lodge, No. 48,, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., was held on Thursday, Bro. H. Guyton, N N.G., presiding. Two candidates were elected and initiated. Term connniStees were appointed, and arrangements made for the "500" • shield competition at next meeting. A challenge was also issued for the district chaplain's gong (ritual competition) held by Southern -. Cross Lodge. . Arch Druid Bro. Ewing presided orer the fortnightly meeting of the Island Bay Druids. There was a good attendance of members and visitors, among the latter being P.D.P, Bro. Ingram, juvenile lodge supervisor. The social committee reported that the series of social evenings promoted by the lodge had been successful in every way. A new series will commence next lodge night. On the motion of P.6.P. Bro. Boniface, it was decided to form a juvenile lodge nt Island Bay on 7th February. D.P. Bro. Fisher was appointed superintendent, and the officers of Island Bay Lodge a committee to assist. The following at present, hold offce in the lodge: A.D., Bro. Ewing; V.A.. Bro. I. Greig; J.P.A.. Bro. F. Cornish; 1.G., Bro. A. Smith; A.0.8.'5, Bros. C. Orr and Tait; V.A.B.'s, Bros. Biddiss and Corkin; Treas., and M.S., Bro. H. J. Crewe.% P.A.; Sec, Bro. T. Mollison, P.S.; M.C., Bro. Longstaff. Correspondence was received stating that Bro. G. Sadd has been elected District President and that the R.A.C. shield competitions would take place in April. A vote of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mrs. Beu was passed, • members stand-, ing- , The fortnightly meeting of Excelsior Lodge,' No. 11, U.A.0.D., was held this week in the Druids' Club Rooms, Tory street., A.D. Bro. v Fraser presiding over a large attendance. ■ Much correspondence was dealt with. The bards' report was received, and siclc pay and accounts were,passed for payment. One new candidate was initiated: P.D.P. Bro. Johnston reported on the activities of the Dispensary Board. The presentation of a P. A. collar and diploma was made to P.A. Bro. Jorgensen by P.D.P. . Bro. Johnston. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the visitors who were present from Holly, Prids of Brooklyn, Otaki, Coronation, Ngahoe, Pacific, Mewburn, Totara, and Island Bay .Lodges. After business was concluded 'the lodge went into harmony, when a most enjoyable time was spent. The .Excelsior orchestra supplied the musical items, and several brothers contributed vocal items.
