.The members of the Wellington cricket team,, with the exception'of J. S. Hiddleston "and"- H. Watson,: returned from the South this morning. Speaking, to a "Post" reporter regarding the memorable match with Otago,' Mr! 0. G. Wilgon, chairman'of the Wellington Cricket Association, and manager of the team, said that the' secret of success was the wicket, while another thing which tended towards the exceptionally high scoring was the number of catches missed by both sides. .'That was really attributable to the fact that the .players 'had not been used to such Vig scores being registered against them, and on that account the fielding requirements of the. match were perhaps greater than those to which study had been given. The* match did show, said Mr. Wilson, that what is wanted in New Zealand is good wickets.
