DID HE COMMIT SUICIDE?
MELBOURNE, 24th January. The perpetrator of the gardens murders is still at large. One theory is that he threw himself into a reservoir near where the rifle was found. This will be drained during the day: A ■ dishevelled, unshaven man walked into a detective office and declared that h« wanted to surrender. He said that he had done the shooting, had lost his memory, and did not know where hs had been last night. The police, who believe him.to be innocent, but suffadng • from mental trouble, charged him with offensive behaviour. Ho was remanded for a week. , A remarkable story is told by Mrs. Harris,-of South Yarra, lifelong friend of Mrs. Stroheiker. She declared that she dreamt the whole shocking incident last Thursday night, was .miraculously warned of the impending doom of her friend, and only refrained from accompanying Mrs. Stroheiker because of a warning dream, wherein she saw herself receiving her dead friend's baby. The first intimation that she' received of the tragedy was when she received the baby just as- had happened in the dream.
