PRIVATE ADVICES

Messrs. 'Dalgety and Co. are advised by London, dated 23rd January, as follows :—"Owing to a thick fog, no wool sales have been held to-day." The- Bank of New Zealand, Produce Department, has received the following advice from its London office, under date 22nd; January: "The1 sales-have opened with strong competition and large attendance of buyers. There is a good demand for all kinds of wool. Prices are higher for: Merino, l£d to l^d per lb; crossbred, 2d to 2jd per lb." The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-op. Association, Ltd., are to-day, in receipt oi the following cablegram from their London agents, under date 22nd January: "Wool sales opened to-day. There was.- a large attendance of buyers, Home and Continental buyers being the chief operators. Compared with closing rates of previous sales fine, medium, and coarse crossbred advanced 10 per cent' to 16 per cetit." '
