MILK BOTTLE CAPS
Recently ,the City Milk Department has been forced to issue milk bottles closed with caps on which the day of the week is not, stated, and several inquiries have, been addressed "The Post ' as to why this is being done. The reason is simple enough, and sound enough, stated an official to a reporter who called. at the depot to-day. The stock of caps for two or three days is running low, and as the next shipment is not_ expected for a little time, it has been judged wise.to use a certain percentage, roughly about' 25 per cent., of undated caps, on those days. There is no truth whatever, slates the official, in the suggestion that the undated cap may cover the past day's milk, for the rule, to which there are no exceptions, is that daily "spares" ' are* at once emptied and the milk separated for butter or cheese-making. Milk bottled yesterday is on no account distributed. * today.
