DOUBTFUL WEATHER PROSPECTS
South-easterly gales were reported about Cook Sti-ait this morning, and the weather has been stormy in various parts of the country during the night, on account of the disturbance which is still in evidence in the north. The barometer has risen in the south above normal, and heavy rain has fallen in the East Coast districts during the night— upwards of two inches in several places. This rain will be of very great benefit, especially to the East Coast districts of both islands. The outlook is etill for unsettled weather; further rain is probable in the northern and East, Coast districts; and cold'and showery' conditions may be expected.elpewhere*. Southeasterly dales' are likely to prevail locally. There, are two, if not' three, disturbances ' operating at the .present time, and according to the Director of The Meteorological-Office they may possibly neutralise each other,which is the only hope there is for a fine day tomorrow. ■ , ...
