AIRCRAFT CRASHES

LONDON-PARIS SERVICE,

(Received 24th January, noon.)

LONDON, 23rd January. There were two curiously similar crashes in the London-Paris air service. An English machine, arriving, at Le Bourget, nose-dived and bursS into flames. The machine .and mails were destroyed, but the passengers escaped. A French aeroplane, landing at Croydon, dipped -its tail and smashed the under-carriage. The pilot and two pas.sengers, including an Algerian sheik, with a turban and flowing blue robes, jumped ou|. Flames destroyed the aeroplane in ten minutes.
