(BY TIUfISAPH PRSES ASSOCIATION.) WOODYILLE, 23rd January. ' A man named M'Tavish, in charge of S. Bolton's stock, had a thigh broken at the show yesterday. He was~leading some calves when the animals pulled him over.
PAHIATUA*, 23rd January. Charles Hewett, married, driver of the county metal team, was jolted off a. dray, and a wheel passed over his ankle, which was fractured.
ASHBURTON, 23rd January. The fireman, Swanson, who was blown from the engine of an excursion train last week-end, sustaining a, fractured skull, is still clinging to life at the Ashburton Hospital. Hs appears to hare an increasing chance of surviving.
NEW PLYMOUTH, 23rd Jan.
An open verdict was returned at "the inquest, on the body of Miss Openshaw, the victim of yesterday's accident at Lepperton. The Coroner said there was no evidence of blame being- attachable to anyone, but commented on the number of level crossings in Tarauaki where the roadway dip's, leaving high banks to obs.cure the view. Ho was pleased to see that some of these banks were being cut down.
