PAREMATA BOATING CLUB
Another series of races in connection with the Paremata Boating Club was held during the week-end /in glorious weather. A light easterly breeze justsuited the sailing boats. The races took place on the No. 1 course (Upper Harbour), and were closely' followed by a numerous crowd of spectators. Four boats faced the etartor in the sailing race being sent off as follow: Mr. Fisk's Wairau, 25 mm; Mr. Waddol'sN Nancy and Mr. Kinniburgh's Doc, 2min: Mr. Sterling s Queenie, scr. After battling against the tide for some time, Wairau eventually got into better conditions, but by this time Nancy was under way and was soon after her rival. Dot got into difficulties from the start, the strong tide playing up with her. Queenie passed hor, and was soon after her other opponents in a ding-dong go right rouud the course. Quoeme gaJned on the Nancy, but she wan not to be caught, her owner sailing her well, arriving home 2 l-12min ahead of Queenie. Wairau did not complete the course owing to a broken tiller. The Dot, which is a new addition to the club fleet, will no doubt prove a hard nut to crack when her ownor haa everything shipshape. Noxt week's races will be for points in connection with the handsome cups presented to the club (the Foundation Cups) for competition- ♦
