AUCKLAND,. 22nd January. At the Waitemata, Swimming Club's gala, Miss Gwitha Shand broke the New Zealand 440 yards record held by Miss Pauline Hoeft, reducing the time from 6min 25 3-ssec to 6min Bsec. She was paced by, J. Enwright. . . E. V. Cunnold won the half mile provincial championship in 12min 26. 4-ssec, V. Pelham was second, and E. Bradley third. The race -was won by five yards.
