NEW SOUTH WALES EXPERT

ARRIVES.

Recently the Government Entomologist drew attention to the existence of new timber-Doring insects, and he pointed out that in some cases these destructive pests and their larvae had been discovered under the bark of hardwood piles arriving from Australia. It was suggested that steps should be taken imported here; for use as hydro-electric in this way.

Mr. P. J. Drew, timber expert of the New South Wales Forestry Commission, arrived in Wellington by the; Marama from Sydney yesterday,' and intends to inspect shipments ot timbers which. are imported here for use as hydro-electric power poles and wharf piles. While in the Dominion Mr. Drew intends to investigate whtt the New Zealand Government is doing in connection with forestry matters, and this morning he had an interview with the Commissioner of State Forests (the Hon. Sir R. Heaton. Rhodes). To-morrow morning Mr. Drew will leave Wellington for New Plymouth.
