SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY

-An enjoyable picnic for the benefit of tiie sailors at present in port was provided yesterday by the Sailors' Friend Society, when a party of 130 took advantage of the arrangements made by Mr. James Moore, the missioner, and his workers. All kinds of games ■were played, and a very happy time was spent. In the football match the Port Elliot beat all comers, and in the tug-of-war, the Nowshera beat the Port Elliot. The prize-winners were the Misses T. and J. j Colpus, and Messrs. Elvey, Peters, Collins, Williams, Tanner, Woods, Grey, Moorhead, Henry,. Bamfield, Marsh, rßuckman, Gleed, Walsh, Connolly, ■ Millars, Goodman, Featherstone, Catherwell, Jones. At 8 p.m. the Institute was packed to the doors for Miss V. Mueller's popular concert, when the following rendered : yeoman service:—Mesdames Mueller, Rosenthal, and Montgomery, the 'Misses , N. Hill, Wrigley, H. Hobman, M. Troon and Messrs. C. Rimmers, T. Jenkins, Dswin, Grey (Port. Elliot), Connolly (Port Elliot), and Grey .(Port Hacking). The sailors thanked the society for the pleasure provided for them, the singing of "God Save the King" and "Auld i Lang Syne" closed a most enjoyable day.
